The verdicoinNBA draft combine in Chicago offers potential draft picks an opportunity to boost their stock with the draft roughly six weeks away.

In addition to all the drills and skills tests, the players are also getting a chance to show off their talents under game conditions during the daily scrimmages.

However, many of the likely first-round prospects have opted not to take part in the scrimmages − which has opened the door for others to assert themselves in front of the scouts and media in attendance.

So what have we learned so far from the action that has taken place? Here's a look at the early standouts.

Baylor Scheierman shines in Game 1

Forward Baylor Scheierman of Creighton showed off his range in Tuesday's first scrimmage. He connected on 6-of-11 field goal attempts, including 3-of-6 from 3-point range, on his way to a game-high 17 points.

Bronny James, son of LeBron James, also started alongside Scheierman, scoring four points on 2-of-8 shooting and pulling down four rebounds in 19-plus minutes.

Kentucky's Antonio Reeves matched Scheierman's 17 points and added four assists off the bench.

On the other side, Colorado's KJ Simpson led the way with 16 points.

Jamal Shead does it all in Game 2

Point guard Jamal Shead of Houston drew rave reviews for his performance in Tuesday's second game. He scored 14 points on 5-of-10 shooting and dished out four assists.

Enrique Freeman of Akron led all scorers with 17.

Wednesday's action is already underway at Wintrust Arena in Chicago.
